Last August I attended a web designers conference. The internet changes so quickly and so dramatically it's important that I do this now and then. This year, every lecture was about the proliferation of hand-held devices: iphones, ipads, blackberries, and android devices and how touch screens and small viewing areas is changing the direction of how we will be approaching the design process right from the start.
I'll bet you're wondering about the title of this article. Wonder no more...it's our latest web site gone live very recently. We're very proud of this website. It took months to do because there was so much content, pictures, forms and components but we loved doing it every minute. Hands Across The Water is an organization working miracles for children in foster care and waiting for adoption. Click here to see our design work.
First impressions are important and sometimes fleeting. Every year I create a new look for my site. It's my way of attracting new business.
We drink a lot of coffee here and this spring we didn't stop for much. We put up 4 web sites between January and April...that's one per month! Of course it doesn't actually work out as neatly as that since every web site has different needs but we are quite proud of these sites - they look really good and the functionality on a couple of these is just great.
Most of my clients' web sites are still using the 1.5 version of Joomla! But back last year in January, 2011 the folks at Joomla.org rewrote major parts of Joomla and gave it the version upgrade to 1.7. Since then they've fine tuned all those rewritten parts and now the current version is 2.5. So...the question is should you upgrade or not? Well, here's the Pro's and Con's for upgrading or not.
Well, I'm very late with this newsletter but I have a good reason. We've been very busy with a new site and are proud to announce it: http://www.jheor.org. The JHEOR stands for Journal for Health Economics and Outcomes Research and is managed by an Ann Arbor company StatInMed.com. It's a great concept and an even better design with an anticipated audience of researchers, doctors, academia and private businesses specializing in medical research. Gosh I feel like I'm helping the local economy!
